The Metro Front Page

Masthead: The masthead of the Metro is done the way it has been done to stand out to people. in this issue the paper does not have its normal background as the news paper is focusing on football but normally it would have a blue background. the combination of the background blue with the white writing and the red ‘free’ sign at the top left corner also shows some patriotism towards England.

‘Puffs’ or ‘blurbs’: The ‘Puff’/’blurb’ of the Metro gives an idea of what they are showing about the football to the audience it helps attract readers as not everyone would like to read the other stories.

Slogan: The slogan of the Metro is ‘the worlds most popular free newspaper’ this is a bold claim but it makes people think the Metro is important.

Lead story: The lead story of The Metro is the ‘BAKER CHIMP TWEET SHAME’ the lead story would include the headline, the subhead, the byline and the stand first. it is important because it usually covers the most important and pressing matters that is happening at the time. The story would be chosen because it is about elite people, the new royal baby, racism and celebrities doing shocking racist things.

Headlines: The headlines for the paper is ‘ BAKER CHIMP TWEET SHAME ‘ the headlines make the lead story pop out to the reader. It is done like this so the reader looks at the story first. They look at the story first because the writing almost covers the page, not allowing any other story to be shown.

Sub-heads: the sub-head gives a brief definition about the main story this is attracts the readers closer to the story because it explains it a little but still leaves gaps of information, this makes the reader get more intrigued.
